Sapporo Video Production

Sapporo is one of Japan's youngest and most vibrant cities. A variety of parks, architectural structures and historic landmarks make Sapporo a go-to destination for video shoots of all kinds. Modern lines combined with ancient structures give videographers rare opportunities to feature the Sapporo of today while appreciating the history of the area. Whether waiting for the wild cherry trees to blossom, watching skiers at the Okurayama Observatory or people watching at the Sapporo Station, you’re sure to find plenty of reasons to keep that camera rolling.

Top Sapporo Filming Destination

Nijo Market

The Nijo Market, a public, fresh-food market in the heart of the city, offers a taste of Japan you won’t find anywhere else. The market is open daily at 7 a.m. It’s the perfect spot for filming locals eating a traditional breakfast of fresh fish and for capturing the vibrant feel of daily life in the center of the city. Colorful stalls with fresh local produce and donburi with salmon eggs, sea urchin and rice provide the perfect backdrop for mornings in Sapporo.

Sapporo Station

Sapporo Station, the city’s main railway station, is in the center of downtown. Sapporo Station is home to a bustling shopping area and the impressive T38 Observation Deck at the top of the JR Tower. The observation deck is 160 meters above ground and offers spectacular views of the city and surrounding area.

Maruyama-koen Park

The Maruyama-koen Park features some of the best of Sapporo’s natural beauty. Located in the western suburbs, the park boasts more than 1,700 wild cherry trees. During cherry-blossom time, tourists flock to see the incredible display. The giant elm and cypress trees in the Hokkaido-jingu Shrine are another opportunity to capture some of Sapporo’s natural beauty.

Okurayama Ski Jump Station

The Okurayama Ski Jump Station is the perfect spot for sports videographers. The home of the 1972 Winter Olympics, Okurayama Ski Jump Station features an all-weather facility where visitors can watch ski jumpers year round. When there are no events, take the ski lift to see the jump from the participants’ point of view.

Sapporo Clock Tower

The Sapporo Clock Tower is a well-known landmark in Sapporo. The clock tower was built in the early days of the city’s development as a drill hall of the Sapporo Agricultural College in 1878, and a clock from Boston was installed in 1881. The Sapporo Clock tower is home to a museum featuring the history of both the building and the city.
